I've used Retail Insights for years. The reason I subscribe, is because we use Philip LeNoble's System 21 business development system. You've seen the newsletter. The articles are good...some for Managers, some for Account Managers...but the real meat of it is the category info called Field Mastery. Our AEs use it as an ice breaker for a "warm call". They also incorporate it into their media kits for presentation purposes. It's a part of the Summary, Conclusion and Recommendations they prepare as part of System 21. Check out all of the categories. If you subscribe, and you need a particular category, they'll fax you the most recent update.

It also includes the Retail in Brief section with info about what's happening in your market both locally and nationally; and a monthly promotions page. Each quarter, there a Biz Ops sheet which highlight categories which are entering their spike months.

Frankly, I think it's a huge value for only $350. Think about it...if it helps you get just one new account a year, and your average new account bills $2500 a year (probably a low figure in your market), you've got a 7:1 return on investment (ROI) with only one account.
